Welcome to New York. Let’s trespass

My second weekend as a resident of NYC, I left my Manhattan apartment to join some strangers—and the amazing Venezuelan photographer Kike Arnal—to explore the ruins of a hospital. Later, we negotiated the labyrinth below Grand Central and visited a gargoyle on the station’s roof. Kind of idiotic, but undeniably fun—and sure to have gotten us shot a few months later, post-Sept. 11, when such public infrastructure was more heavily guarded. As introductions to a new home town go, it was memorable at least.
