Ohio’s Fight Over Renewable Energy

Back in the Spring, I decided that as long as I was looking for a job, I’d get serious about reporting on climate change. Inside Climate News sent me to Ohio, where modest standards for the adoption of renewable energy sources – passed 93 to 1 in 2008 – were under attack, with the Ohio House passing a bill to undo them by a veto-proof majority in March. Got an education in some truly esoteric energy metrics, enjoyed meeting several fine Ohioans, & thanks to my friend Larry Smith, I had my first taste of Jeni’s ice cream. Took awhile to publish, obviously, but we broke enough ground that the Cleveland Plain-Dealer took an excerpt, and we interested the Weather Channel, who is completing a companion documentary.
